Team Australia, made up of Sam Hill (Chain Reaction Intense Mavic), Connor Fearon (Kona Factory DH Team) and Josh Carlson (Giant Factory Off-Road) finished in sixth place at the inaugural Enduro World Series, Bluegrass Trophy of Nations held in Finale, Ligura over the weeekend.
The top three ranked riders of each nation competed for the official UCI striped jersey. Other than the team style race, the event followed the same format as a usual EWS round with riders allowed just one practice run per stage in training, and with all five stages being contested in one day.
After finishing sixth on the opening stage the Aussies hit back to claim Stage 2.
But would finish in fifth, seventh and fifth on the final three stages.
Team USA which included Richie Rude (Yeti/Fox Shox Factory Racing), Shawn Neer ((Yeti/Fox Shox Factory Racing) and Cody Kelley would secure their place in the history books claiming the rainbow stripes.
