Forty of Australia’s best mountain bikers will take on the worlds leading riders in Lenzerheide, Switzerland from 4-9th September 2018.
The current team boasts junior cross-country world champion Cameron Wright, last year’s world champion silver medallist in the elite men’s downhill Michael Hannah and sister Tracey who claimed the elite women’s bronze medal in Cairns.
There are also four other Australian riders inside the worlds top 20 in downhill along with junior cross-country rider Matthew Dinham currently second in the world behind country-man Wright.
For all riders the cost to attend and represent their Country at World Championships is nothing short of expensive, with flights, accommodation and baggage, which almost always exceeds the limit.
MTBA currently does not receive government funding to assist with our national team and high-performance representation, and whilst contributing the best we can, the brunt of the financial commitment is left with the athletes and their families as riders chase their dreams.
Our riders work tirelessly all year in the hope to gain selection in the Australian team and represent their country at the highest level.
On behalf of all our national team, and their families, MTBA is seeking any corporate support from business networks or contributions that may be forthcoming to help these awe-inspiring athletes represent their country and achieve their goals this September.
