After numerous discussions and considerable consultation with a wide variety of stakeholders, due to the challenges presented and lack of certainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the maintenance of the integrity of the competition, and most importantly concern for the health and well being of the community, Mountain Bike Australia have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 National Cup Competition.
One of MTBA’s focuses for the remainder of 2020 will be supporting clubs to help build back their racing calendar and club activity.
We recognise and appreciate that there are still some areas of our nation facing significant challenges to achieving recovery, and for that reason MTBA will continue to provide updates to changing conditions as they are announced by the authorities. We empathise with parts of our mountain bike community that are facing these tough situations.
To help support clubs and event organisers, we are pleased to announce we will be trialling the introduction of a State Cup Competition to complete 2020, commencing 1st of October.
Considering the ongoing impact of COVID-19 restrictions to competition, the trial State Cup Competition will not affect National Cup rankings. Our focus is on encouraging and supporting the mountain bike community to come together once again in a safe and fun way through local competition.
More details will be forthcoming soon via our website. MTBA will look to continue the State Cup as part of the National Cup as of 1st of January 2021.
For clubs and event organisers that are interested and would like to apply to list their event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org more information.
