Brisbane’s Janine Jungfels has given herself another shot at the rainbow jersey by making it through to the Elite Women’s Trials Final at the 2019 UCI Urban Cycling Championships in Chengdu, China overnight.
The 2015 world champion finished with a combined score of 500 points in the semi-final.
She finished third behind current world champ Nina Reichenbach from Germany on 650 points and Spain’s Vera Baron, who was part of the gold medal winning team’s event the day prior, was a further 50 points in front of the Queenslander.
Jungfels claimed a bronze at last year’s championship and silver in 2016.
Nathan Mummery will open up his world championship account today in the Men Elite 26″ class.
