Brendan Johnston regained his mantle as the number one marathon rider after claiming the elite men’s race at the Golden Epic Triangle in Bendigo, Victoria.
Johnston took the top step on the podium from Cameron Ivory (SA), who won the Easter in the Alice title weeks earlier, with local Tasman Nankervis taking third.
April McDonough (SA) took the elite women’s title after the 100km race with more than one minute ahead of Kim Willocks and Courtney Sherwell.
It was a positive result for Johnston who is out to defend his national marathon championship crown in Townsville this weekend, which also is round three of the national marathon series.
