Cameron Ivory and Holly Harris claimed the elite titles at Round 4 MTBA National Marathon Series ‘Bayview Blast’ at Redland Bay, Queensland on Sunday.
Ivory, the newly crowned Australian marathon champion, had just enough in his legs after 94km to beat home Brendan Johnston and Michael Harris to win his second race of the series stopping the clock at 4:18:17.
While in the women, Harris upset the current national champion Anna Beck, has she blasted her way around the course to win by more than 10 minutes to Beck with Ashley Watling rounding out the podium in third.
There was no mechanical to spoil her victory this time, as happened at the national championships in Townsville when a flat tyre saw the Armidale rider ultimately lose the lead to Beck and the green and gold jersey.
The final round of the Marathon National Series will be the ‘Dwellingup 100’ on August 18.
