Rebecca Henderson has claimed her second UCI MTB World Cup podium after finishing fifth in Albstadt, Germany overnight.
The Canberra rider, who was back in 11th at the half-way mark of the six lap elite women’s race, would pick off riders at will and take advantage of a crash by world champion Annika Langvad to move into the top five with one lap remaining.
It’s the second top 10 finish this year for the three time Olympian, after placing 8th in the opening world cup in Nové Mesto.
You couldn’t call yourself an Aussie battler if you didn’t make it a bit hard for yourself! After a good start my first two laps were super challenging and my head wasn’t in the race. A quick mid race self pep talk and I shifted my engine into gear. Couldn’t be happier with my 5th place today making my final pass on the last lap and a World Cup Podium. Massive thanks to my support team and supporters! Cheers!! ???????? #becanddan #ucimtbwc Photos: EGO-PROMOTION
It was the highlight of the weekend for the Aussie contingent.
