Janine Jungfels (QLD) has finished fifth in the Elite Women Category at the UCI Trials World Championships in Chengdu, China over the weekend.
Despite qualifying first in the semi-finals, the 2015 world champion couldn’t hold her form in the finals after missing a gate and crashing on one of the stages which saw her drop down the leaderboard, leaving German Nina Reichenbach to claim the gold.
The last time the Brisbane rider missed a podium place was three years ago where she finished fourth.
Nathan Mummery (VIC) would finish inside the top 20 in the 26″ Elite Men’s category which was won by Great Britain’s Jack Carthy.
