Aussies World Championships Completed

A record 289 riders from 24 countries contested the 2019 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Bognese, Denmark over the weekend.

Defending UCI World Champion Eli Iserbyt (Belgium) and Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup winner Thomas Pidcock were the top favourites in the Men Under-23 category race, with three Australians lining up in the field.

Nicholas Smith (53rd), Adam Blazevic (61st) and Declan Prosser (62nd).

On the final day of the Championships it was the Mathieu Van der Poel (NED) was the favourite to win the race in the elite men category and the Dutchman continued his season long domination with back to back rainbow jerseys.

Two Australians went up against the worlds best in the elite’s  with Chris Aitken (46th) and Garry Millburn (53rd).
