Aussies To Race In Japan Cyclo-Cross

Posted by jo-2, November 14, 2019

A squad of seven Australian cyclo-cross riders will head to Japan to compete at the double header UCI C2 Utsunomiya Cyclo-cross event as part of Mountain Bike Australia’s Junior Development Pathway.

MTBA Sport Manager Evan James said this is a better investment for riders looking for international experience.

It’s cheaper travel, there’s no time zone change, riders will experience different food and culture and it’s a very challenging course and quality competition but not quite as high and deep as European fields.”

Athletes:

Shelby Johnson (Elite Women)
Anya Tatarinoff (Elite Women)
Mitchell Snowball (Junior Men)
Nick Smith (Elite Men)
Erik Vetisch (Junior Men)
Griff Knight (Elite Men)
Dan Taylor (Elite Men)

Three support staff will also accompany the squad including CX World Championship manager Mark Routledge.

The team will depart for Japan on 11 December until 19 December 2019.
