Imogen Smith was Australia’s best placed rider at the 2019 UCI MTB World Marathon Championships at Grechen, Switzerland on Sunday.
The Brisbane based rider finised 38th in a field of 70 starters with the women’s route totals 69.06km distance, with a challenging 3,508m altitude difference across the course.
France’s Pauline Ferrand-Prevot backed up her world championship cross-country win to claim her second rainbow jersey of the year in the elite women.
While the men faced 93.65km in the saddle which also included a gruelling 4,397m of climbing.
And it was a first for Columbia with Hector Paez who crossed the line in Grachen 4hr18min since he left the start line.
Four Aussie men lined up in the field of 181 riders on the start line with all finishing the epic race.
Seb Jayne (68th), Tyler Windham (133rd), Ben May (155th) and Justin Morris (156th).
