Adelaide’s Mount Lofty Ranges have been chosen to host Mountain Bike Australia’s Gravity Enduro National Championships for the next three years.
The Gravity Enduro format involves riders competing over a weekend, with timed descents and untimed climb (or transition) stages.
Gravity Enduro is a rapidly-growing discipline in mountain biking, closely reflecting the sort of riding many people undertake recreationally.
This year’s event will take place on the weekend of October 15-16.
The South Australian Government is currently working towards establishing the Adelaide Mount Lofty region as an international mountain biking destination by 2020.
More than $600,000 have so far been invested in the project, which was announced as an election commitment in March 2014.
A report was released in 2015 with a series of recommendations to make this vision a reality, including adding to the existing trail network and attracting major mountain biking events to Adelaide.

Adelaide has high-quality trails an easy 30 minutes’ travel from the city centre.
This will allow competitors and their families easy access to a variety of accommodation, and all the tourism, gourmet, wine and retail experiences the city and hills have to offer.
Over the next three years, even more mountain bike opportunities will be developed throughout the Mount Lofty Ranges, building on the roughly 200km of existing shared-use and mountain bike-specific trails.
We look forward to having something new for mountain biking tourists to try each time they return to Adelaide and the Mount Lofty Ranges.

We are really excited to bring the National Champs to Adelaide for the next three years.
We’ve been hearing so much about the trails throughout the Mount Lofty Ranges, and their proximity to Adelaide makes them perfect for a large event like this.
Gravity Enduro is an extremely popular MTB discipline and Adelaide has long standing history of strong MTB gravity events and riders, including the likes of current riders Troy Brosnan and Connor Fearon. The combination of such great trails and this exciting event format, can only mean a terrific MTB spectacular for Adelaide.
