EVENT INFORMATION & COMPETITION FORMAT

Event ScheduleClick Here (V1.0 Published 12th June 2018)

Competition Format: Competition will consist of three races over three days with the combined position in each category contributing points towards individual and team results. Click Here to see the Scoring Guide.

Cross-Country Eliminator (XCE): The first race will be a Cross-Country Eliminator over a course of between 800m and 1.5km within the Nerang State Forrest Trails. All racers will ride a time trial to qualify for the final series where riders will compete in heats of four, head to head. The fastest two riders will progress through to the semi finals and finals respectively.

Cross-Country Olympic (XCO & O/T): The second day will be a XCO & O/T race day held at Nerang State Forest. Riders will start in their respective age category and race a course of 4-6km in length. In the second stage rider’s will test their skills over sections of obstacles in a format called “Observed Trials”. Sections will get progressively more difficult. Riders must complete each section without touching the ground (Dabbing). Three dabs in a section will result in an incomplete section.

Each completed section will result in 10 bonus points for the rider and their respective schools. A maximum of 50 points is available.

Podium positions will be based solely on XCO results with the O/T providing bonus points.

Cross-Country Team Enduro (XCEN): The third and final day of the Schools National Championships will be a 4hr Cross-Country Team Enduro, held at Nerang State Forest. Riders will race as a team of three or four and the race will be won by the team who completes the most number of laps in the least amount of time. No team will be able to start a lap after 4hrs has lapsed.

Team Managers:
Schools must provide a team manager who will attend managers meetings, collect and distribute rider plates and be the emergency contact for all riders on the team. Team managers must carry a mobile phone on them at all times.

Team managers will identify individuals who can man feed and technical zones. These are limited to 1 per 4 riders per team.

Rider Responsibility:
Riders are responsible for riding within the rules, ride in control without risk to other riders, officials or spectators and riders must inform officials of withdrawals, and injuries.

Volunteering:
Schools must provide 1 volunteer per category each day. Volunteers must be over the age of 18.
