WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 

All athletes wishing to be considered for selection in National Teams are advised to carefully read and understand the Section A eligibility criteria, and the relevant specific criteria for their discipline. In particular athletes are reminded of their obligations surrounding extenuating circumstances for injury and/or illness, which must be fulfilled prior to any event the exemption is applied for. Athletes and coaches are welcomed and encouraged to discuss their season plans and racing schedules to best maximise their chances for selection with MTBA’s Sport Manager –  Evan James devcoordinator@mtba.asn.au

UCI Masters MTB World Championships – Vallnord, Andorra – July 15-18 2018

There are currently no minimum performance standards or selection criteria. Eligible participants can enter via the website. All riders require a UCI license (available from Cycling Australia, information can be found HERE) and a letter from their national federation authorising their participation. To obtain a letter contact MTBA Sport Manager – Evan James devcoordinator@mtba.asn.au prior to Thusday June 7th (note entries close June 9th).

UCI Elite / U23 and Junior MTB World Championships – Lenzerheide, Switzerland – Sept 5-9 2018

Selection Criteria 

Section A – General Selection Criteria and Eligibility.

Section B1 – Olympic Cross Country (XCO).

Section B2 – Downhill International (DHI).

Applications for selections can be made via the online form HERE. While all eligible athletes will be considered for selection, the information collected from the application form will also greatly assist in the planning of team logistics.

UCI Urban World Championships – Trials and Cross Country Eliminator (XCE) – Chengdu, China – Nov 5-11 2018

Trials and XCE do not have discipline specific selection criteria. Athletes wishing to nominate for selection should contact MTBA Sport Manager – Evan James devcoordinator@mtba.asn.au before August 31st 2018.

Entry Information

MTBA administers entries for MTB World Cups in conjunction with Cycling Australia for all AUS riders apart from those on UCI listed trade teams. For non-trade team entries the following criteria apply.

Category UCI Points required for individual entry AUS Federation entry max quota
XCO – Elite men and women 20 6 men + 6 women
XCO – U23 men and women 20 6 men + 6 women
DHI – Elite men and women 40 3 men + 3 women
DHI – Junior men and women not applicable 6 men + 6 women

Any athlete with the required UCI points at the entry date can enter a World Cup using the application form link below. Applications must be received, including all supporting documents, at least 1 week prior to registrations opening.

Athletes without the required UCI points can apply for a federation entry. The initial round of AUS federation entries have now been allocated.  Any entries still remaining after the initial application process has been completed will be allocated on a first come first serve basis during the season. The application form for all entries is HERE. In addition the following is required by Cycling Australia and must be completed before entries can be processed.

1. ASADA Anti-Doping Level 2
All applicants need to complete the 2018 ASADA e-learning level 2 course – the link to the 2018 course is available on the ASADA website HERE. Once completed certificates need to be emailed to devcoordinator@mtba.asn.au

2. 2018 Cycling Australia National Team Agreement (NTA)
The agreement can be found HERE. Please read this document carefully and complete the execution page, medical profile and (if applicable) the parent guardian agreement. Note the requirement to have signatures witnessed. Once completed the agreement needs to be scanned and sent to devcoordinator@mtba.asn.au

3. Cycling Australia No Doping Statutory Declaration (NDD)
This is only required from applicants who have not previously signed a declaration and are aged 18 or over. Please download and sign the declaration applicable to your state HERENote that the declaration must be witnessed by a JP or authorised person. A scan should be sent to devcoordinator@mtba.asn.au and the original must be posted to Rik Fulcher c/o Cycling Australia, PO Box 646, Enfield Plaza, SA 5085.

All riders are also required to have a UCI license and the associated insurance cover for the period you will be racing overseas. UCI licenses are issued by Cycling Australia. Information can be found HERE. Applicants can wait until they are notified of the outcome of federation entry allocation before taking out insurance.
