In response to latest COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, MTBA have implemented new ways for our membership base to stay engaged and active.


STRAVA

Add Mountain Bike Australia on Strava here

“TogetherAlone” – Our twice weekly unsocial ride on Strava to inspire during isolation. It’s about getting outside a small bit and feeding our physical and mental wellbeing. Start from home, any time after 6am, ride any terrain, keep it moderate (30-40mins), collect some inspiring thoughts, pics, vids and share! (Spot prizes to follow too for best content). Click here to join!

ZWIFT 

Zwift is the perfect way to maintain fitness and stay connected to your community during this challenging time. For those new to virtual riding, click here for a thorough guide on how to get started. We’ve organised Group Meet-ups for those Zwift fanatics with riders such as Cam Ivory, Izzy Flint, Matthew Dinham, Sam Fox, Tasman Nankervis & Bec McConnell.  leading each ride.

The next group meet-up is scheduled for Wednesday the 5th of August at 7pm AEST for 45 minutes, and we’re pleased to announce our leading rider is Hayley Oakes 
All you need to do is follow “Mountain Bike Australia” on the Zwift Companion app and an email nationalcup@mtba.org.au letting us know your Zwift name and you’ll be sent an invite. See you all there!

THE BIG LAP OF AUSTRALIA

The Big Lap is brought to you by Mountain Bike Australia and is an activity for both members and non-members.

The aim is to encourage you to ride your bike indoors or outdoors, where possible and within your state/territory COVID-19 directions.

Submit your distance and time results to ride The Big Lap round Australia with teammates or solo.

You can sign up today and get exercising. Entries will close on 30th August and then you have until then to complete as many kilometres as you can.

TRAIL MAINTENANCE RESOURCES

Undertaking any trail work during the current COVID-19 restrictions is challenging.

Northside Trail Care Alliance based on the northside of Brisbane have worked with the land manager, Qld Parks and Wildlife Service to develop a work induction and guidelines for volunteers undertaking trail construction and maintenance activities during these times. This allows the Alliance to complete, in conjunction with a professional trail builder, a new trail project which has been funded by the Qld Government.
