With the launch of AusCycling we are pleased to provide you with important information about your role as a Coach or Instructor.

In this message we are providing updates about the Coaching and Instructor Pathway, Re-Accreditation, Upcoming Courses, Insurance and Working with Children Checks.

The Coaching and Instructor Pathway

The AusCycling Education Team has developed a Coach Education Framework that will allow all instructors and coaches to obtain a multi-disciplinary accreditation and provide you with new opportunities for ongoing professional development.

The following table outlines the framework.

The Instructor Pathway focusses on teaching the skills and growing the confidence to ride a bike across all disciplines and development levels. The Coach Pathway takes a science based approach with a focus on a rider's physiological and psychological development.

Your current Coach or Instructor accreditation will remain unchanged (e.g. a Level 1 coach will not transition to an AusCycling Development Coach) until you've undertaken another course or re-accredited.

Re-accreditation at the expiry of your current coaching or instructing accreditation will continue to be required to be renewed every 4 years.

The AusCycling team will be in contact with you prior to the expiry of your accreditation to provide any specific re-accreditation requirements.

AusCycling will continue to offer comprehensive insurance for all accredited coaches including:
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance ($5,000,000)
  • Public and Products Liability ($20,000,000)
  • Personal Accident Insurance

AusCycling is currently finalising the details on the insurance available for coaches who operate as sole traders which we expect to finalise prior to 2021.  All coaches and instructors who currently have an arrangement with MTBA will continue to be honoured.
