BREP Community Grants - New Bike Riding Encouragement Program

Good afternoon Club Representative,

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has launched an exciting new grants program to get more Queenslanders having fun while reaping the health and financial benefits of riding a bike.

The Bike Riding Encouragement Program community grants are seeking fresh and different thinking to the challenge of getting more people to ride more often. We also want to support the growth and development of bike riding in Queensland through innovation and partnerships.

Organisations already involved in the bike riding community and those who have a good idea about how to get more people in Queensland riding a bike are encouraged to apply. There are two funding streams available.

The 'grassroots' funding stream is focused on supporting initiatives within local Queensland communities, such as 'buddy' rides, social bike rides and rides targeting specific groups (for example, children, women, older riders, new riders). Funding of up to $5000 is available through this stream.
The second funding stream has a focus on innovation. We are looking for initiatives that help facilitate more people to ride a bike regardless of where they live, such as website or app, or initiatives that are being provided in a specific location but can be replicated in other locations with minimal modification.

Funding of up to $20,000 is available through this stream.
Information on the grants including the Guidelines and Application Forms can be found on the TMR website at: www.tmr.qld.gov.au/bikeridinggrants

Applications close at 11:59pm on Sunday 25 October 2020.

The community grants are just one of many exciting actions being delivered under the new Queensland Cycling Action Plan 2020-2022. You can read about the other actions and how they fit into the Queensland Cycling Strategy 2017-2027 at www.tmr.qld.gov.au/cyclingstrategy
