On Saturday 17 December MTBA's members endorsed the next phase of MTBA’s development by approving that MTBA change from an Incorporated Association to a Company Limited by Guarantee.   I would like to thank all those who took part in the meeting; directly, by proxy or online, and no matter how they directed their votes, for their passion and support of our sport.   The 2016 AGM had the largest attendance and highest numbers of proxies and online votes of any MTBA AGM I can remember.   Thank you for taking your time in the holiday season to ensure your voice was heard.

The pre AGM commentary sent a clear message to MTBA that we need to provide more support to our clubs and seek a better means of communication to our members and clubs than the current e-newsletter format.   My thanks also go the the MTBA Management Committee and Staff for their preparatory work in developing this important change, with still more to do.   Welcome to Lachlan Murray as the successful Elected Director and thank you to Richard Ovesen for his work for MTBA in previous years and for being willing to put his hand up again.   The MTBA Management Committee has appointed Lachlan Murray to fill a currently vacancy Committee position, that of Secretary.   We felt it important to find a way to include your choice in the decision making process as soon as possible.

We now begin the administrative part of the process of change and it is my intention that this is done as quickly as possible.   It is difficult to provide an exact date, with various agencies closing or reducing their activity in the holiday season, but I anticipate the change will be complete by the end of January 2017.   If we can do it earlier, we will, but the important thing is to do it right.

I would like to increase the number of Women on the new MTBA Board.   Currently, after some resignations over the last 10 months, the Board is all-male.   I would like to add two Women to the Board.   If you are interested in being part of the new MTBA as a Director, please contact me at president@mtba.asn.au

To all our members, have a great break in the Christmas season, and try to spend some of it on a bike.   I hope to see many of you at the National Series rounds early in the new year.   We have some exciting new locations for our premier national competition and it is going to be a busy January.   Enjoy your holiday.

Selected riders will travel as part of an MTBA development squad to the event for training and competition. MTBA will be providing a coach / manager for the squad to assist with logistics and provide support and instruction for riders on how to prepare and race an international Gravity Enduro event.

All applications must be received by midnight 3 January 2017. Successful applicants will be notified by 9 January. All unsuccessful applications will be forwarded to EWS to be added to their Wild Card entries so there is no need to apply twice.
